Yes....you read that correctly...last night we attended Travis' Cadaver Ball. I like to refer to it as Med School Prom. Basically the first year students put on this semi-formal event to honor the 2nd year students who are finishing up their classroom time and moving on to 3rd/4th year rotations. The theme was "A Night at the Oscars", and the 1st year students did an AWESOME job!!! It was at the Wildflower Country Club, and it was complete with dinner, class awards, professor awards, a DJ and dancing. (including a 20 minute Macarena marathon) I'm so proud of my hubby!! In some ways it seems like med school is flying by, but at the same time... I feel like it was 20 years ago that we started this crazy journey. Love you T!!
No prom is complete without a photo session in the parents' front yard!!

Oh, I forgot to mention that Trav and Rob were in charge of giving out the 2nd year students' awards.....Ayiyi
One of the awards was a FISH...awarded to the person who HATES ALL ANIMALS...needless to say, we ended up taking this little creature home with us....more updates to come on that note.
OH!!! I almost forgot to mention one of the biggest events of the night!!!!! WE GOT OUR FIRST REAL BABYSITTER!!!!! (we've left him with family members and a few sitters at the Stahls house, but never have we had to call a high school girl to come to our house and watch Colby all by himself.) When I found out that BOTH of our parents were going to be busy, I texted just about everyone I knew to see if they could come watch little C. I offered pizza, movies on demand, beer and cold hard cash. EVERYONE was busy. I contacted 7 high school girls to see if they could come watch him....ALL BUSY. Thankfully, the very last girl that I got ahold of could come!!! It was such a relief, and at the same time I was a nervous wreck. It was so unlike me, but I guess I was just really nervous about how Colby would react to us leaving him with a complete stranger. I didn't want anyone to have to put up with him crying for 5 hours.
Sydney C was FABULOUS! She brought her sweet sister and they distracted Colby with bubbles while we snuck out. I texted a few times to check on them and they were doing great. When we got home, the girls said that he NEVER cried the entire night. YAY!!!!! SUCCESS!!!!! I feel like a REAL parent now!!! :) THANK YOU SYDNEY!!!
