Bloomin' Temple

Saturday morning, Colby and I headed downtown for the Bloomin' Temple Festival with Hope, Holly and Rhett. When we got there, we met up with Kim, Jeff, Grace, Marla and Caleb, too! We had LOTS of fun doing festival things like the petting zoo, lollipop tree, Dippin' Dots, strolling around the car show and vendor booths, holding baby turtles, drinking freshly squeezed lemonade, and much more. Colby and I both had so much fun!!!

There was a huge CAMEL in the petting zoo!!!

RUN, baby goat!

Colby dumped out the cup of food that they gave him before we even got into the petting zoo, so he figured out that he could scoop his cup into the nasty food buckets they had inside. (THANK GOODNESS for Germ-X!!)

SWEET baby goats sleeping (they were SO TINY!!)

Colby called this his "mail truck"....I guess it looks like one....a little bit....haha

YUM!!

All the babies...ready for naps

Way to go Rusty!! You did a great job and we had tons of fun- thanks for helping to pull off such a great event in downtown Temple.

Happy Birthday Nona!!

Nona's birthday was April 2nd, but we finally got around to celebrating last weekend with a FABULOUS dinner at Cheeve's.

11 years

April 15, 2000 Travis picked me up for our first date! We went to Pappasitos for dinner with Karli and Anthony and then went to Travis' senior prom.

I couldn't help put pull out the old scrapbooks yesterday. :)

To this day, Travis says that if my dad had been home when he came to pick me up, he probably would have turned around and ran as fast as he could....haha....I guess it's a good thing it was just my mom and auntie Lisa there to send us off.

I love you T!! I'm so thankful that your friends asked all of the girls in your class to prom before you got a chance to and you had to settle for a sophomore. :)

BLUEBONNETS

I feel like these pictures pretty much speak for themselves. :)

(I just looked through all of our spring blog posts from a year ago...I cannot believe how much Colby has changed in one short year.)

Introducing our newest family member...

MEET BUBBLES!!!!

This little fish has changed our lives. :)

Colby loves to watch Bubbles, feed Bubbles and eat with Bubbles at the table.

"I see Bubbles! He's swimmin!"

Night Night, Bubbles!! (feeding Bubbles is a new part of Colby's night time routine....right after his vitamin and teeth brushing)

Trav and I have placed bets on how long we think Bubbles will survive in this house. My guess: 1 month, Trav's guess: 6 months!! (he says it's because he's the "fish whisperer"...we'll see)

CADAVER BALL

Yes....you read that correctly...last night we attended Travis' Cadaver Ball. I like to refer to it as Med School Prom. Basically the first year students put on this semi-formal event to honor the 2nd year students who are finishing up their classroom time and moving on to 3rd/4th year rotations. The theme was "A Night at the Oscars", and the 1st year students did an AWESOME job!!! It was at the Wildflower Country Club, and it was complete with dinner, class awards, professor awards, a DJ and dancing. (including a 20 minute Macarena marathon) I'm so proud of my hubby!! In some ways it seems like med school is flying by, but at the same time... I feel like it was 20 years ago that we started this crazy journey. Love you T!!

No prom is complete without a photo session in the parents' front yard!!

Lael, Trav, Drew

Oh, I forgot to mention that Trav and Rob were in charge of giving out the 2nd year students' awards.....Ayiyi

One of the awards was a FISH...awarded to the person who HATES ALL ANIMALS...needless to say, we ended up taking this little creature home with us....more updates to come on that note.

OH!!! I almost forgot to mention one of the biggest events of the night!!!!! WE GOT OUR FIRST REAL BABYSITTER!!!!! (we've left him with family members and a few sitters at the Stahls house, but never have we had to call a high school girl to come to our house and watch Colby all by himself.) When I found out that BOTH of our parents were going to be busy, I texted just about everyone I knew to see if they could come watch little C. I offered pizza, movies on demand, beer and cold hard cash. EVERYONE was busy. I contacted 7 high school girls to see if they could come watch him....ALL BUSY. Thankfully, the very last girl that I got ahold of could come!!! It was such a relief, and at the same time I was a nervous wreck. It was so unlike me, but I guess I was just really nervous about how Colby would react to us leaving him with a complete stranger. I didn't want anyone to have to put up with him crying for 5 hours.

Sydney C was FABULOUS! She brought her sweet sister and they distracted Colby with bubbles while we snuck out. I texted a few times to check on them and they were doing great. When we got home, the girls said that he NEVER cried the entire night. YAY!!!!! SUCCESS!!!!! I feel like a REAL parent now!!! :) THANK YOU SYDNEY!!!

MORE crawfish

The Stahls were in charge of March's crawfish boil supper club, and they definitely did it big. Dan and Chandler even drove to the Austin Farmer's Market Saturday morning to go pick up fresh crawfish. I know many of you are wondering....does Mary Beth eat crawfish? Absolutely not....but I do still enjoy the party. :) I was in charge of bringing food for the kids....and for me. We brought chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, and french fries. (I love that the kids can be my excuse for bringing my favorite foods)

these girls had NO FEAR when it came to those crawdaddies

Baby Pierce came for some crawfish fun!

look who snuck into Chandler's room while she was playing outside!

and trying to sneak up on her bed!!
