Sunday Funday

On Sunday we decided to hang out by the Anthony's pool all day...they're out of town on a roadtrip, and we didn't want the pool to go unused while they were gone. :) BJ, Ashley, Dan, Chana, Chandler, Reagan, Kayla and Levi all came over to play. Reagan is growing up so much and is just a ball of happiness, and Chandler is so cute and such a great helper!!! It was a very fun and relaxing day.
Chandler giving Colby kisses
Travis with the kids! (Colby wasn't sure what to think, but he definitely enjoys the water more now that it has heated up...the girls were just loving it!)
Dan helped cool off the pool by throwing in bags of ice!
Chandler was helping out the guys when it was time to grill the backstrap and sausage....what a great helper!!!

Mr. and Mrs. Ellspermann

Saturday night my parents kept Colby, and Travis and I went to Brian and Rebecca's wedding in Austin. Brian went to chiropractic school with Travis, and he and Rebecca actually MET at Travis' bachelor partyon 6th street in Austin!!! At the time they were both in relationships with other people, but their friends got each others numbers for them and the rest is history!! What a fun story...I was so glad that we could be there to see them get married. The wedding was outside...in the 104 degree Texas heat, but it was very short and very sweet and beautiful!! Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Ellspermann!!

Power Nap

Daddy caught us taking a power nap on Saturday!! :)

Pool Party

Friday night, one of our neighbors had a little pool party and invited us over for steaks. We weren't sure how Colby would do, because he usually starts getting fussy and ready for bath, bottle and bed around 8:00, but we decided to give it a try. It was just basically across the street, so we figured we could always come back home if we needed to. He really did great though! We ended up staying over there until MIDNIGHT!! Not that Colby was quiet and happy the whole time, but he did pretty well considering we kept him out so late. He loved seeing all of the new faces. :) We came home, fed him and he slept until 9am....so nice!
girls playing with Colby...he's such a little flirt already!
hangin out on the kitchen table while we were out by the pool!! :) (YES, someone was inside with him at all times...and he was strapped in...don't worry!!)
Thank you so much Sean and Kristi for inviting us over!! We had a great time!!

MED SCHOOL!!!

WOW- it's really about to happen!!! Travis got a big packet of medical school info in the mail yesterday, and it's so exciting!!! He basically has 2 weeks left of work. Then we'll be in Destin for a week, and then there's just one more week between Travis and med school. I can't believe it's time to get this whole thing started. Travis is so excited, so I am so excited for him! I know he is going to do so well, and he will be an amazing doctor...it's his passion, and he is extremely motivated.
Orientation is the last week of July, and his first day of class is August 3rd. :) Go Trav Go!!!

Random

Random thoughts seriously consume my brain every day...I think that's one thing I enjoy about having a blog...I can get those thoughts out and then not have to worry about remembering them later...
I have tried to be productive today...not one of my strengths...it's getting to the point where there are so many things that I need to do and I don't even know where to start. Our washing machine is not working so we have a HUGE pile of laundry sitting in the middle of the floor right now. It doesn't help that I hadn't done laundry in awhile anyway...thank goodness for parents in town. My mom has already done a couple of loads for me and we're going to take some over to Trav's parents house this weekend. (then we'll see how long it takes us to actually fold it, hang it up and put it away)

This morning I decided I needed to tackle our bathroom and bedroom...the thought of trying to clean the whole house was way too overwhelming, so I think it's better for me to take baby steps. It's such a nice feeling to be able to see carpet (instead of clothes) and to have a bed that is made!! :) The worst thing was that I started wiping down our lampshades and I realized that there was a THICK layer of dust on them...honestly, I had never really even thought of dusting the lampshades...WOW...I will not make that mistake again...maybe I will clean them once a week...

I also caught up on Colby's calendar this morning. It has been so fun for my mom and I to look back at my baby calendar to see when I hit certain milestones, so I have really enjoyed keeping up with Colby's too. Hopefully when he has kids, he will enjoy looking back at his calendar. It's so interesting! My brother and I both started getting teeth around 4 months, and Travis' mom said he had his first tooth before 4 months, so we're just waiting for Colby's first one to pop up...my mom and I are convinced that he is teething.

ALSO, as I was decluttering our bedroom, I came accross the pregnancy journal that I kept with Colby. I'm SO glad that I did that. It's already neat to look back on what I was thinking and what all we did when we were pregnant with our first baby. I love having memories documented so that we'll always remember. Now I need to get pictures developed and put in there while it's still semi- fresh on my mind. (It's a week by week belly journal, so you're supposed to put a picture of you in there every week!!!...I think I have pictures in there for about 3 of the 37 weeks...oops...) I need to get baby pictures of Colby developed too...we don't have ANY!! Yikes....maybe that will be my small goal this week....that and finish sending out birth announcements.

Last week was my last week of subbing for summer school- THANK GOODNESS!! I feel much more free now....I love it! It's such a great feeling. I'm taking all of July off without even thinking about school, and then I'll let myself start getting ready again on August 1st.

play date

Today Colby and I went to play at the Hitt's house with Lindsay and Reese. The boys were so cute! Reese loved baby Colby...I think he literally wanted to pinch his cheeks! haha...it's always fun to chat with other moms who have been where you are. I can't believe that 6 short months from now, Colby will be as mobile as Reese. He is so adorable!!! I love that he is always smiling. :)

Thanks for having us over to play guys- can't wait to do it again soon!!

Father's Day Festivities

Father's day...Trav's new favorite holiday! He really enjoyed celebrating the fact that he is a daddy now. On Saturday we celebrated with the Anthonys poolside and then yummy fajitas for dinner. Sunday, Colby got all dressed up in his tie onesie for church, and then we had steaks with my parents at their house and then watched our wedding video!! :) We were so glad to have all of our siblings home to celebrate both of our wonderful fathers and Travis' first father's day. Here's to many more!! :)

3 wonderful years

June 17th was our 3rd wedding anniversary. It's been such a wonderful 3 years, and I was so looking forward to celebrating on Friday just the 2 of us. The plan was to go down to Austin to bowl or see a movie or something fun just to get out of town and then head back to Salado and eat dinner at the Range.

On the way to Austin, Trav handed me a box and told me it was my first gift. I looked at it and saw the return address said "Cory McElroy." I almost started crying I was so excited- I knew it was our wedding video!!!!!!!!! It has taken 3 years for us to get it, but I'm so happy to have it now!!!!! It was a wonderful surprise. Little did I know, that wasn't it...we weren't going bowling or to see a movie or to eat in Salado. Travis had planned a day and night out in Austin. We laid out by the pool all day at the Hyatt on Town Lake (yes, he packed my swimsuit for me, along with my chi and hairspray...haha), took a nap and then got ready for dinner. We had reservations at a delicious little restaurant called South Congress Cafe. Everything was amazing!!!! We had the best drinks (who knew they made dragonfruit Bacardi?!?) and the dinner and dessert were very yummy too. Next we headed down town and watched the UT baseball game at a fun place called Max's Wine Dive. THANK YOU Travis for planning such a fun surprise. It was a much needed trip away together!! :) xoxo
about to head down to the pool....check out the incredible view of downtown from our room!!

LOVE YOU TRAV!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!

Beautiful Baby

I just can't get enough of this kid. Some days when we have nothing else to do, and Colby is awake and smiling, I will just get out my camera and take tons of pictures hoping to get a really good one. I think he's going to be photogenic. :) I love this little baby!!!!!!!!

(Speaking of photogenic...Travis' parents gave us a gift certificate to have pictures taken by Molly Cripe from Photographics Unlimited!! :) I can't wait!!! Any suggestions for the best age to do this? 3 months? or 6 months?)

slowly but surely

We are still working on decorating Colby's room!!! We're so close now...I just need to get some pictures of him up on the wall. :)

We had these canvases painted by a girl in Waco that owns the store, Harts N Crafts. If you have never been there, you must go sometime!! They have some really cute and unique stuff, AND they do custom stuff too!!
She also has a blog... www.hartsncrafts.blogspot.com

Colby loves his Mamaw

My grandparents stopped by to visit last week and bring us an anniversary card. I was so glad that Colby was awake and happy for them. He loooooooves his Mamaw. She got down on the floor with him, and they laughed and talked for a long time. I loved it!! :)

babies!!!

Usually Travis is so quick to knock down any nests that the birds build in our entry way. I hate it, but they really do make a huge mess, so I understand.

This time though, the birds were too sneaky. Before we knew it, there were 4 baby birds up there!!! Thankfully, Travis agreed to leave the nest until the babies flew out. They have made a HUGE mess at our front door step, but the babies have been so cute to watch!! They've already gotten so big...I think they'll be taking flight very soon!! :)
last week
this week!! so cuuuuuuuute

safe?? or unsafe??

I love morning shows!! You can learn so many interesting things...

This week on Regis and Kelly I learned about keeping kids safe in the summertime

UNSAFE
-putting sunscreen on babies younger than 6 months (they should be in the sun much at all...oops!)
-taking babies out on a boat...they should not be on a boat until they can wear a life jacket (ok, that one was kind of obvious)
-to swab kids ears after they swim or take a bath (leave their ears alone! they say...the wax is good for them and you only shove stuff deeper in there when you swab them...not good)

SAFE
- letting kids play in public sandboxes (as long as you check it out for glass and dog poop first)
-to swim right after you eat
- picking noses
- eating it (EW! haha...but they did say that!!)

Thank you Regis and Kelly for helping me be a more responsible summertime parent!! :) (I think I still have alot to learn...)

summertiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime...and the livin' is easy :)

Thank goodness you don't have to hear me sing this song...it's not pretty...but that is what I'm singing today. After I fed Colby at 6:30 this morning, he went back to sleep and I slept until 9:30- whoo hoo!!! I even got to drink a cup of coffee and check my email and facebook before he finally woke up to eat again around 10:15. He ate, we played, and now (12:30) he's slowly swinging back to sleep again for another nap. My goal today is to get birth announcements addressed, stamped, stuffed and sent! (Yes, I KNOW they're about 3 months late...but give me a break!!:))
It's been a great week so far. Tuesday night we had some friends over to watch the UT baseball game. It was nice to be at home because we could keep Colby's bathtime/bedtime routine as normal as possible. He did great! He went right to sleep (with the help of Trent's pacifier skills), and then I got to catch up with Ashley's wedding plans over a glass of wine.

Wednesday was our anniversary!! 3 whole years- yay for us! :) We're going to celebrate on Friday, so more on that later.

Wednesday was also Lee's birthday (and Jenna Mae's due date...but apparently she didn't get the memo...) We went to eat at a new restaurant in town, Fork & Cork. (where Sorge's used to be) They've only been open about a week. The food was yummy and we had a great time celebrating!!
some of the boys

our little fam....Colby was great up until the very end- it was past his bedtime and he'd had enough
Tonight we're going to Nami's with the Schneiders- yum!!
I am so enjoying being at home more with Colby. I still can't say that we've gotten into a really predictable routine, but we're getting there. I do not believe in waking up a sleeping baby- so every day is a little different, and that is fine with me. We're moving up to size 2 diapers, 3-6 month clothes and 6-7 ounces of milk each feeding. Colby is REALLY growing!! He's also into grabbing things, kicking his legs all over the place, smiling and LAUGHING. It's the most precious smile and sound I have ever heard. Every day just gets better and better. :)
