Aunt Erika

Travis' sister Erika is home for a few months before she leaves to work in London!! I still can't believe she's actually going to be LIVING over there. She loooooves her time with Colby, and it's nice to have her here when my mom has appointments during the day and other things she needs to do. Erika has been so sweet to keep Colby several times so far for us. She sent me these pictures, and I love them!! Colby loves his time with Erika, Nona and Pappy. :) We are so blessed.

tummy

Colby is getting better and better at spending some play time on his tummy. He's even started rolling from tummy to back. (usually when no one is watching...he's sneaky!)
YAY Colby!! We're so proud of you!!

Lynnsay's Photography

My cousin HB's sweet girlfriend Lynnsay is so creative and takes amazing pictures!!! She even has a website now to start doing some photography professionally. Last weekend at Jackson's birthday party she was there with the camera just snapping away. I really didn't expect her to get any fabulous pictures of Colby because he was a little cranky when we got there, but she captured the moments and made them amazing!! Here are some of the ones that she took. :)

Thank you Lynnsay!!

BIG BLUE WAVE and convocation...

ok, so my motto this year is to be positive and make the most of everything, so here are some exciting pictures from TISD convocation and the Big Blue Wave fun run/walk :)
Ready to learn how to TEACH LIKE A ROCKSTAR
Get on the A-Train- WOO WOO!!

Kayla, me and Meredith ready to go (they ran...but I found some walkers to keep up with)

YES! Kayla was interviewed and on the news- way to represent!! :)

After our 1.7 miles- now off to shower, change and finish up classrooms for meet the teacher!!

My happy race car driver

This morning after a wonderful 3 hour nap, a 4 oz bottle and some squash, I decided it was time to pull out Colby's little driver that he got from his uncle Doug. It says 6+ months, but I'm sure that Colby is GT so he needs a challenge. He's not quite sitting up all by himself yet, but it was perfect to entertain him in his high chair. I love my days off with this happy boy!!

Week One...and pictures...

Where do I begin? It's been a WILD week. Who decided that we needed to be in school for a full week on the first week of school? It was too long for those babies and too long for me. BUT...I love my new class!! They're awesome. I also love teaching all subjects. I'm actually beginning to love reading and writing more than math and science. (for the past 3 years I have only taught math and science, but now I am self contained) I love reading aloud and watching how much the kids love books, and I love sharing stories with them through writing. I'm really hoping that this year is going to be the best one yet. I have alot more going on at home (obviously) so I'm really going to have to get organized, but I'm up for the challenge!

I decided the best way to post my favorite recent pictures would just be to post them all with captions instead of dividing them into seperate posts, so here you go!! We've had a busy but fun few weeks!!
my friend, Melissa, sent me this one!! She came over about a month ago and was obsessed with that naked little bottom. :)
last Tuesday, Whit came down for Waco to eat with us- we LOVE her so much
Next time we'll know to get this picture at the beginning...the boys were pooped. I had to stick a bottle in Colby's mouth and then pull it out quick for a picture. If you look closely, there is milk running all down his face!!
Last Wednesday we went to Allyson and Trent's house for a girls night. We finally got to meet Jennifer and Taylor's new edition- baby Evan!! He is soooooo tiny and precious and a wonderful baby.
Colby loved playing with Ally
when we got home I took a picture of Colby with my phone to send to Travis...Colby was grabbing for it and loved looking at himself. (he has started grabbing EVERYTHING...phones, remotes, beer cans....everything!!!)

Saturday we started our morning off with a quick nap and then off to Jackson's 3rd birthday at one of Temple's splash parks. I had never been and had no clue what to expect, but we had a blast. Colby loved it!!

Happy Birthday Jackson!!!

Debbie wanted to play with Colby as soon as we got there. Check out his flip flop sandals- he was decked out and ready to go.

Colby with auntie Debbie, Haley and Austin (notice he's grabbing for Deb's camera)

Haley May took Colby out to cool off in the splash park. He loved the mister and the small fountains.

These boys are so silly!

I love this picture. I think Colby was looking up to Jackson and wanting to be a big boy too.

After the party, we zipped over to Gram's house to see Kelli (in town from Chicago) and Mary Jane. This was Kelli's first time to see Boogie in person.

Colby played with Aunt Mary Jane for a long time- he loved her!

in the car after a long day

naked baby!

I took this picture for all of you out there who wonder if Colby ever gets fussy...yes, my sweet little boy does go downhill very quickly when he is tired

after bath time- sometimes Colby is screaming after his bath and sometimes he's perfectly content. When Trav isn't home, I have to lay Colby on the floor in his towel so that I can dry off and get dressed before I get him ready for bed. For some reason he loves that. I caught him talking to himself. He cracks me up!!

blankies making me bonkers!

Some of you are going to read this and be in shock that I let this happen...sorry...haha...but my son LOVES to be surrounded by blankets...including one OVER HIS FACE!!! Yes, I realize this violates all SIDS safety precautions. Thank goodness for video monitors!!!! I try to go in once Colby is sound asleep and move the blanket off of his face at least....and it's also nice to be able to check for signs of breathing...this reeeeeeeeeally made me bonkers at first, but now that Colby is old enough to pull the blanket off if he needed to I feel a little better. What can I say?? I love to be all snuggled up in my blankets too!! I was laughing out loud today when my mom sent her daily update!! She said he took the BEST naps that he'd ever taken at her house once she figured out how much he really does loves blankets. :)

Where's Waldo??

Playtime with Daddy

We love when Travis is home during playtime!! (usually he is, but this week he has been studying like crazy for his first test)
Colby loves his daddy so much, and I love watching them interact together. :)
Here's a video that I took...I don't think Trav knew I was taking it. :)

so proud

Slowly but surely this little guy is rolling more and more each day...he still hates to be on his tummy...but it helps a little bit when I say "yaaaaaaaaaay Colby"...he gets a kick out of that. :)

Strawberry Rash and bath

No! This is not really a rash, but doesn't it look like it?!? haha...we've discovered the mesh chew thingy, and it's been our "secret weapon" over the past week. Colby is SO inquisitive and curious. Anything new is like a "task" for him to figure out or conquer. The first few nights we put crushed ice into the mesh pouch, and then we tried frozen strawberries! (haven't I already posted something about this? It violates the one food at a time rule, but it's all good!)

Anyway- it's soooooooooo messy, but he loves to be stripped down naked anyway, so I just laid him down on a towel and let him go to town. Afterwards it looked like he was covered in a nasty rash!!!!! It was pretty funny. Since Trav was going to be up at the library late studying, Colby got to have bath time with mommy. He was sooooo good (thank goodness! I don't know how these single parents do it- my heart goes out to you!!!)

I can't wait to try more fruits and veggies in the chewy thing, but for now- YAY for STRAWBERRIES!

ps...have you ever tried to move pictures around and it won't let you?!? I've played with this post for WAY too long and I cannot get the pictures where I want them!!! Anyway...2 are rashy and two are all clean!!! :)

Another great day!

Colby had another great day at Mimsy's! They even took a trip to Memaw and Pop Nix's house to visit and he was a perfect angel (of course!) As a "thank you for keeping our little booger this year" gift to Mimsy, we gave her a fun new excersaucer. She sent me these precious pictures today. LOVE it!!! (apparently he was watching Noggin in the second one...he looooooves Noggin!)
