KP baby shower

Yesterday afternoon, my wonderful 2nd grade teammates threw me a baby shower after school. It was so fun and Colby got lots of cute things! I just love the people that I work with!! I'm so thankful for all of them and for the friendships I have made here at Kennedy-Powell.
2nd grade team
adorable cake that Mayra made!!!
this was Mr. Botts' nice way of telling me to make it quick! :)

My wonderful mother-in-law came, which was great since she is a former KP teacher. :) I was very thankful that she was there.

I loved this gift so much- it was handmade with love from our art teacher- Stephanie Gordon (who also took all of these pictures- thank you!!!!) It's a scrapbook box. Inside, there are 12 little slots- one for each month of Colby's first year. Each month, I'll take a picture of him and put it on a pre-made card inside. On the back of the card, I'll write down some things that he did that month. Also, in each slot, there is an envelope with "words of wisdom" from different teachers at our school. I just love this. It's so special and I can't wait to fill it up and give it to Colby (well, probably his wife will appreciate it more than he will) someday!

This was an adorable hand painted chair! It was personalized with Colby's name on it and the seat was hand woven with ribbon- so creative and cute!! (look at Tiffany's face- she was REALLY excited!! :))

Thank you to EVERYONE who made this shower so special for me and baby Colby!!

35 weeks

35 down...5 to go! We are so excited about Colby's big debut- it can not come fast enough. I'm feeling pretty great...a few aches and pains, but overall I'm very happy with how everything is progressing. I seriously am getting bigger and bigger by the day, and sometimes my stomach is lopsided because of how he is laying and pushing around in there...it's pretty crazy. I can't wait until next week when Dr. Green starts checking for progress. I hope she will be able to tell me where his head and back and feet are so that I can get a feel for where he is positioned. I have no clue right now!!

Travis set up Colby's swing in the living room a few nights ago and we decided to leave it out so that Buddy could get used to it being in there. I think he likes it...

Baby Shower!

Sunday was my first official baby shower and it was a blast!! Thank you to the wonderful hostesses (Tiffany, Jana S., Jana N., Sharon and Betsy.) Everything was adorable, the food was fabulous, the petit fours were precious and the onesie sugar cookies were perfect! There was a great turn out and Travis was amazed when I got home with all of Colby's new goodies. It was overwhelming...in a good way. Thank you SO much to all of the wonderful ladies who came!!! I loved seeing everyone and showing off my "blossoming belly."

with the beautiful hostesses

with Liz and Whit (Whitney was very excited that we were making her look so skinny)

loved this....it's a "wheel of responsibility" to see who is on duty- mom or dad

I can't wait for Colby to wear this polo baseball cap!!! (he also got a matching green Polo onesie and socks!)

Little Giraffe camo lovey- it is SO cute and SO soft!!

my auntie debbie made adorable burp cloths with Colby's name on them!

These were just a few of the cute gifts!! The hostesses gave Colby a highchair that has so many features I will probably never figure them all out, but I'm working on it! He also got a bouncer, a jumpy entertainer, bibs, cute outfits, socks and shoes, picture frames, bumbo seat, cradle swing, musical table, car seat base for daddy's car, UT outfits (and Baylor thanks to Whit!!), pee pee teepees :), books, blankets, and I feel like I could go on and on....I can't wait to get home today to start organizing everything!!! Baby things are SO FUN!!!

There was a special gift that I had strict instructions for Travis to open when I got home. Thank you Trent Street for making his day!!

Quick update...

Went to see the doctor today. She said everything was normal, and that was about it...we will go March 4th, and she will start to check and see if I have dilated and all of that fun stuff every week from then until Colby makes his big debut! I guess we're just playing the waiting game now....6 weeks is a long time to wait! I need some action here!!

Valentine's Day

I LOVE Valentine's Day! I know that it's a "Hallmark holiday", but I don't care! I'll take any excuse to celebrate love and hugs and kisses! :) Also, 4 years ago, Travis proposed to me on Valentine's Day weekend, so that makes it even more special.
This year was pretty low key, but that's the way I like it...especially right now with the baby bump. I'm all about comfort these days. We decided to buy some really good steaks and just cook dinner at home. It was perfect! Dinner was delicious!!! Afterwards, we decided to get a movie on demand....Stepbrothers! (how romantic, I know!!) but we both fell asleep half way through the movie. I won't tell you what time it was, because it's kind of embarrassing, but anyway- we had a great night together. Our last Valentine's Day without kiddos...pretty crazy!
Travis was very productive during the day on Saturday. He built himself a work table in the garage and a cubby for his mini-fridge, and he organized all of his tools and trinkets. He LOVES things to be organized and in their place, so he really enjoyed this. Here is the final product before and after the organizing...also, I uploaded a picture of Buddy...he cried all day long because he wanted to go in the garage with Travis!

Also, last Thursday, Junior League threw a Valentine party for the Child Life department at Scott and White. It was so fun!!! We set up stations so that the kids could decorate Valentine bags, get Valentine tatoos, and decorate cookies. They loved it all, and we loved it just as much as they did. Here are some pictures from the party- thank you Sally for being the photographer!!!

I loved this girl, Monay! She wanted to make bags and cookies for all of her nurses and doctors!! She let me help her, and I loved it! She even made me a pink heart bracelet that matched my outfit. :)

Birthday catch-up

I forgot that I had these pictures, and I wanted to catch up!! :) A few weeks ago, Travis' parents took us all out to eat at Nami's for my birthday and Travis' dad's birthday. It was fun to catch up with everyone, and the food, as always, was very yummy!! Travis and Erika practiced using chopsticks, and I think they were pretty successful...I decided that my chicken and steak didn't require chopstick skills, so I was ok.
I can't believe that Erika and Dylan BOTH graduate soon!!! Erika is graduating from UT and Dylan is graduating from Belton High School this year. He was in FOURTH grade when Travis and I started dating!!! I remember picking him up from school a few times at Cater Elementary. :)

33 weeks

Yesterday was the end of my 33rd week of pregnancy! It's so true when people tell you that the third trimester starts to really fly by...I don't even know where the last few weeks have gone, but here we are in the middle of February already! :)
The wall letters arrived yesterday morning, and of course we had them hung as soon as we got home! They're precious and I love them!

Practice makes perfect...

I have always LOVED babies! I can't get enough of them!! Ever since we found out that we were pregnant, I love them even more. Last weekend, at Melissa and Vatsal's wedding, Travis snuggled up with Kim Wilson's precious baby boy, Tucker! Thanks for catching this photo Debra. :)

Cookie Baking Extravaganza 2009!!

Last Christmas, BJ, Ashley, Travis and I had our first annual cookie baking extravaganza. We baked and decorated tons of Christmas cookies and had such a blast!! This year, Christmas was just too busy and crazy, and we never got around to having our 2nd annual extravaganza. Ashley and I decided that Valentine's Day would be a great time for cookies, so Monday night was the night! It was perfect- cookies, icing, pizza, catching up with Ashley, and the Bachelor!! I'm not going to lie, my feet hurt like crazy from standing up all day, but it was well worth it. :)

Beautiful Baby Room

Travis has done a beautiful job on the nursery. He officially finished painting the walls, put the crib together and moved in all of the furniture this weekend. It's gorgeous and adorable and I just love it!!! It's perfect! Travis also ordered wall letters (yet another one of his surprises) that should be here soon. Now we're just waiting on the baby. :)

Superbowl Pictures

Thank you Kayla and Levi for hosting the first annual "Super Bowl Fish Fry"! (I don't know if it's going to be annual yet, but it has a nice ring to it...) We had a great time hanging out with everyone and watching the last few minutes of the Super Bowl. Well, the guys watched the whole thing, but the girls didn't really get into it until the end...that's because the boys were yelling so loud that we didn't have a choice. :) Fun, fun fun!!

soaking in all of the pink that I can :)

32 weeks...and 25 years...

Today is the end of week 32! We had an appointment with Dr. Green yesterday, and everything was great. Weight, heartbeat, tummy measurement, everything was "perfect." (my favorite word to hear her say)
My principal started asking me about maternity leave today, and she wanted to know the estimated dates that I will be gone. I can't believe we're already putting that on the calendar! I kind of freaked out at first....how am I supposed to know when I will have to start taking time off work? and how do I know when I'll be ready to come back? Luckily, when I do come back, summer will be literally right around the corner, so I know that I will survive....
Nursery News: Travis finished painting the chair rail, so next is the chocolate brown paint on the bottom half of the room...I think he's going to start tonight- I can't wait to see it!! Maybe we'll be able to move in the furniture this weekend...very exciting.
Oh, and thank you to EVERYONE for all of the birthday wishes yesterday- you all made my day! I can't believe I'm a quarter of a century old...but I'm sure there's a plus side to that. :) One of my classroom moms made a cookie cake for me so that my class could celebrate- it was so fun!! And Travis topped it all off by bringing home ICE CREAM!!!!! It was a great birthday!!

Say goodbye to the "mancave"

We had a very fun and eventful weekend!! I will have to post a little each day just to get all caught up with pictures and stories.
Here are a few pictures of the nursery progress...Travis and his dad put up the chair rail Saturday morning, and Travis started painting it on Sunday. Saturday afternoon we went to Austin and bought baby furniture, so now that we have the dresser, crib, mattress and bedding, I can't wait for Travis to finish painting so that we can get all of the furniture in and put sheets on the bed!!!! (Yes, I know that Colby will not sleep in this room for months, but I am nesting!!)

Saturday afternoon, we had lunch with Dave and Kristin at Chuy's- yum! We sat outside because it was so gorgeous, and a bird pooped in Kristin's hair!!!!! She was such a good sport about it....I probably would have been crying and freaking out...especially with all of these extra hormones! But Kristin handled it like a champ, and we got an umbrella....
Then, they so kindly went with us to Babies R Us to help us get our baby furniture. It's a good thing that they were there. The whole day turned into an ordeal! Luckily, Travis and Dave are the kings of wheeling and dealing, and we ended up getting a pretty good deal on some nice furniture. AND, to top it all off, on our way out of the parking lot, Dave and Kristin surprised us with a special baby gift-our travel system!!!!! :) We put it together as soon as we got home...I wish Buddy would fit in the stroller so that I could use it now!! I LOVE IT- thanks Storers!!
And of course, no post is complete without a Buddy and mommy belly picture! :) This is right at 31 and 1/2 weeks!! Only 8 and 1/2 to go....
