Brotherly LOVE

Yesterday was the first day that Travis and I really noticed Colby reaching for Buddy and trying to "pet" him. Buddy loves to lay down right next to Colby when he plays on the floor and tonight was their first time to actually play together!! It was soooo funny- Travis and I couldn't stop laughing. Colby almost even rolled over toward Buddy!! I love how Colby is learning how to focus on reaching for things and grabbing them. You can tell that it takes so much concentration, but he's doing so good!! Enjoy!!

House Divided

I love this onesie that Colby got from his "auntie" Whitney!! He may wear it every day while it still fits! haha

Thank you Whit- we love it!!!

Catching up with Colby

It's been awhile, huh?? Colby is changing so much!! He gained at least a pound and half while we were in Destin...I'm pretty sure Mimsy and Nona were feeding him ice cream or something! Here are a few new updates...he is a very happy baby for the most part, and we just can't get enough of him!!
Eating- as you can see from the great debate post, Colby has made the move to eating formula only. I pumped for the last time while we were in Destin, and the transition has been very smooth. :) It gives me more playtime with Colby, and at the same time I feel good that he had the benefits of breastmilk for 4 months. He eats anywhere from 4-6 oz at a time depending on when he ate last. I still haven't been very strict with specific eating times and schedules, because usually he just eats whenever he wakes up, and that's what works for us. :) We are still feeding the rice cereal, but not every day. Pretty much just whenever I happen to think about it. I know that I need to be better about fitting it into our schedule so that Colby can develop those eating skills...I'm on it!

Sleeping- Colby has been a great sleeper lately, and I'm praying that this will continue! The week before we went to Destin, Colby started sleeping about 10 hours at night. This week we have even had a few 11 hour nights. It has been super nice. There have been a few nights/mornings that Colby has woken up prematurely, but after I pop his paci back in, he usually falls right back asleep. He's also taking great naps. Around 11am he will fall asleep in his swing and nap anywhere from 2-4 hours...yesterday it was 4 and 1/2!! Yay Colby- keep it up!!

Crying- yes....although it is less, Colby does have his moments...and he is LOUD like his mommy...I am blaming it on teething, so we better start seeing some pearly whites in the next few weeks. :)

Hair- still crazy as ever, but thinning out more and more each day. The thickest parts are the poof on top and the strip at the bottom in the back. :) gotta love it!! (apparently his daddy really does love it, because he won't let me cut it or even try to even it out!! haha)

Playing- my favorite!! We have tried out the jump-a-roo and little red mustang a few times. He wasn't a huge fan of either one at first, but the car is growing on him. This morning he played in it for about 15 minutes before he got fussy. :)
this was his first time driving his little red mustang (about 3 weeks ago)
checking out all of the buttons and lights
You can take the hood of the car off if you want to just have a tray. Colby loves grabbing for his toys on the tray!! (this was just yesterday)
staring at the parrot in his jump-a-roo (he still hasn't figured this thing out yet)
He loves playing by himself laying on the floor. He still doesn't love tummy time, but I can usually get him to play on his tummy for at least a few minutes before he lets me know that he's had enough. He's also starting to love his Bumbo seat. It's so funny to watch him sit in it and reach for things.
having a little conversation with the gator that daddy picked out for him in Florida
Just this week he has been able to stand up so well if you hold onto his hands. Before we went to Destin he could stand for a few seconds before his legs gave out on him, but now he can stand for several minutes before his legs get tired. It's so cute to watch him try so hard to balance himself as he's looking around at his new view of the world.

look at those big blue eyes!!

My very favorite thing that has evolved in the past few days is that he is starting to reach for our faces. I love it!! It's like his little way of showing us that he loves us.

The Great Debate

Name brand formula vs. generic formula. What is the difference?? As I was paying $22 for a can of formula that will only last a week or two, I noticed that the Target brand was half the price of Enfamil!! That is CRAZY! Kayla had mentioned to me that her sister compared the two and everything in them is the same. I have googled it several times and really can't find anything negative about buying the Target brand...people love it! This is so frustrating to me because I don't want to do anything that could have a negative effect on my precious baby, but at the same time, why am I paying double the amount of money if it's the exact same thing?? I'm going to keep researching and pondering this...but it's looking like we may be saving quite a bit of money in the near future...whoo hoo!!! (Dave would be proud!)

Travis the Baby Whisperer

Thursday night was family night for the Anthonys and the Stahls. After a fun dinner at Cheeves, we headed to the Stahls to hang out (thanks to Chandler's invitation.) I decided that we needed a side by side picture of Reagan and Colby to compare their size. Reagan was born about 3 months before Colby. When Colby was born, I remember that I couldn't imagine him ever being as big as she was (and she was only 3 months old at that time!!) Now, Colby is just about the same size as her!! As you can see from the pictures, I think that Reagan is still longer than Colby is, but he is definitely catching up to her otherwise. :) She is such a little rolly polly, crawling all over the place and grabbing for everything and everyone! Too fun!!
look how much longer Reagan's legs are!!

Such happy little babies...I can't wait to watch them grow over the next few years...

Destin 2009!!

This was my 3rd trip to Destin, Florida. Each time I go, I worry that it's not going to be as wonderful as I remembered. Actually though, the opposite is true...each time it just gets better and better!! It's one of the most beautiful places in the world!!! The sand is white, the water is crystal clear, blue and green, the town is fun, there is tons to do, and it's also a great place to just relax. I could write a novel about how wonderful our vacation was, but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. :) Thank you Destin for being so FUN- hopefully we'll be back soon!!
On the road...Thank you Schneiders for letting us borrow your ride
Day 1- we hit the beach asap!!

Ready for Joe's Crab Shack

Day 1- Trav dislocated his knee cap at Joe's!! It was not pretty and he was in quite a bit of pain...right when it happened, he popped it back into place...thank goodness it was him and not me!!!! I would not have been able to do that to myself!!...our waitress was so sweet to bring him several ice packs...

Cheers to great friends in Destin!! (let me just say that Travis was not just drinking beer at this point...)

ok, this was the beginning of crab madness!!! Ashley and Jeffrey both ordered crabs the first night, and they loved them so much that they ordered them just about every night!! I was content with my kids chicken tender basket...I don't care if it's a seafood restaurant or not!!

Day 2 started with a trip to the grocery store...Trav was way to excited too be riding a motorized cart!!

After the food was unpacked we hit the beach- this is our condo from the beach- it was great!!

Day 3 started out a little sad since the boys went on their much anticipated golf outing, but Travis stayed at the condo with the girls since he was in no shape to be golfing. As soon as we were heading down to the beach, it started pouring!! It actually turned out to be a good thing though...the guys came back and we all went out for lunch and shopping, and we ended the day with games and Fudpuckers. (and by day 4, Trav was ready for the raincheck golf game! yay!)

It was so funny because everyone got ready for dinner and wore black!! (well, everyone except for Travis) This was totally not planned...but I loved it! haha

Travis in his bright pink Tommy Bahama shirt while the rest of us were in black...he did have his black knee brace on though :)

Day 5- we ate dinner at the Back Porch. I love this place, because even though there's always a long wait, you can hang out on the beach while you wait, and it's always a great spot for pictures!! (not that I take that many pictures, but you know...)

I loooooooove the crystal clear Destin water...this is about the only place that you'll catch me in water other than a pool...I have to be able to see my feet!

On day 6 we ate at a place called Bayou Bill's that was recommended by the guys' golfing buddy, Uncle Charlie. It was wonderful!!

BANANGRAMS!!! This was our go-to game all week. We played it during every second of down time in our condo

the ocean from my beach chair...so wonderful!!
Thank goodness for Jeffrey's waterproof camera!!
my favorite way to spend a day in Destin
relaxing...
Last day in Destin....we'll be back!!!
