6 weeks

Oh, how I love a sleeping angel baby!
This precious girl has been challenging us for the past few nights. She is definitely having some tummy troubles and is letting us know it by screaming at the top of her lungs for long periods of time. The hardest part is just not knowing what exactly is wrong and what we can do to fix it. Sometimes nothing helps, but thankfully, sometimes we can hold her certain ways or lay her on her tummy and she gets some relief.
happy smiling girl!
Colby still LOVES his baby sister. He is always wanting to know where she is and what she is doing and he wants to check on her constantly. He loves to get right up in her face and say "hi baby girl" or "hey princess" :)
He turned a diaper box upside down to use as a step stool in her room so that he could "help" me change Camryn's diaper yesterday.
My favorite thing is when he tells me "mommy, she loves me so much!"
Happy 6 week birthday Camryn!

We are Blessed!

We have been a family of 4 for six weeks and we are just now getting a picture together. :)
It's a rare occasion that we are all dressed and happy and ready to walk out the door together. In fact, I'm so glad that Jenna Mae had a birthday party, because this was the first time we all went somewhere together! My mom just happened to be at our house while their house was getting inspected (fingers crossed that their house is officially sold!!) so she was there to take our picture.
Is she seriously laughing? This is great!!
We are so blessed! No matter how crazy each day seems lately, my heart is overflowing. Praise the Lord for these amazing blessings!!

5 week smiles and sleep!

No, I haven't really caught that sweet little smile in a picture yet, but at 5 weeks old this little girl started smiling! It sure does make those late nights, early mornings and fussy times a little bit easier.
The other big news this week is that we have had several nights of 5 hour sleep stretches. It's seriously amazing what a few extra hours in a row will do for one's exhaustion.
Cami usually goes to sleep for the night around 11, sleeps until 4ish, eats, and then sleeps until 7ish when her daddy gets up with her. :) Some mornings she sleeps even later (depending on how much noise her big brother is making).
I think this may be the last week of our newborn clothes. :(
I'm squeezing her into them as long as possible, but it's about time to face the facts that this little girl is growing like a weed and ready for her 0-3 month outfits for sure.

Uncle Big weekend!!

I'm SO excited that Uncle Big got to come in town for Father's Day weekend. This was his first time meeting his neice and I wasted no time handing her over with a bottle for him to feed her.
I'm pretty sure it was love at first sight. (We were sad that Elyse couldn't make it, but Colby DID enjoy skyping with her twice!)
Look how TINY she looks in his arms. :)
On Saturday we visited Uncle Harry and Auntie Debbie at their BRAND NEW beautiful house on the farm. We had walked through several times as it was being built, so it was fun to see everything finished!! Baby Macey and Baby Hudson were there, too, and Colby absolutely loved sitting on a blanket in the living room playing with baby Macey. :) (it was fun to think about the fact that Camryn will be Macey's age at Christmas time....she was crawling around, laughing and smiling like crazy...I can't wait!!)
Cami let us know that she was hungry as soon as we got there (surprise, surprise) so she enjoyed a bottle while we chit-chatted with the fam.
How stinkin' cute are these 2 babies?!???
Had to capture this moment....poor Hudson...
 Beautiful baby girl!
 Uncle Big and Hudson
after our house tour, we went back to my parents for steak night
Gram fed Cami a bottle (yes, she was ready to eat again) and got to snuggle a little bit before dinner
Although Elyse wasn't there, Camryn still wanted to sport her Hermosa Beach California outfit from her!!
:) So cute!

She's 1 month old!!

Ahhhh! 1 month old?? Part of me is sad that it's already gone and part of me is slightly surprised that we survived it. :) We LOVE this little princess to pieces. She has stolen our hearts and taken over our world. I really assumed that our 2nd baby would be super easy going and calm....that's what 2nd babies are supposed to be, right? You just throw them in the car and take them around with you and they are super chill...that was what I thought.
This girl is a bit high-maintenance (her hair really does go with her spunky personality). She insists on being held unless she is sound asleep. She does not rock to sleep in her swing like Colby did. She needs human rocking. She isn't really amused by a pacifier. When she's hungry, she's HUNGRY. She loves her daddy the most (who, of course, isn't home during the day). Her schedule is different every day, and sometimes she just likes to snack (which means it can take an hour or more to finish a bottle).
I think instead of being easy going herself, she's teaching Colby, daddy and I to be more easy going...funny how that works. She is our princess and we wouldn't have it any other way. :)
She has the longest little feet and toes ever!!
After weeks of sleeping outside, we finally decided that Buddy could start sleeping inside with us again. :) I'm not sure if he has even noticed that we have a new baby!!
Poor Cami has had a rash on her face for a few weeks now. We assumed it was baby acne and that it would go away on it's own. It continually got worse and worse and spread down to her neck, behind her ears and onto her chest. Finally this past weekend, Travis decided to take her in to see the weekend pediatrician to see if there was something we could do to help. I'm so glad he did.
The doctor said that it looks like an oily form of eczema. She prescribed a topical steroid cream for us to apply twice a day. She also recommended that we bathe her daily and apply some Aveeno lotion or Aquaphor ointment or something like that afterwards. She also said that we should use some anti-dandruff shampoo for her dry scalp. We're on it!!

Before the appointment, Travis and I guessed what her weight would be. We knew she had to have gained quite a bit since her 2 week appointment. We both guessed that she was about 8 and 1/2 pounds. WRONG! This growing baby girl weighs 9 pounds, 9 ounces!! :)
Colby is Camryn's biggest fan. He loooooooooves her and always wants to know where she is and what she's doing. She is a lucky little girl. I know that they will have their fights and disagreements, but I have a feeling that he will always be watching out for her, wanting to know where she is and what she's doing, and for that I am so thankful!!

Happy one month, Camryn!!! WE LOVE YOU!

3 and 4 weeks

Notice that after 2 weeks it gets more and more difficult to update the blog (or unload the dishwasher or do laundry or take out the trash...) I don't know why this happens, but I remember the same thing happening with Colby. The first few weeks are fast and furious and full of adrenaline (and lots of extra help).
Weeks 3 and 4 just seem so much harder. I think sleep deprivation and reality begin to set in and it's just harder to get anything done other than feeding, rocking, changing diapers, cleaning bottles, pumping, etc....not to mention entertaining a very active three-year-old. :)
We're taking things one day at a time and trying to soak up every sweet little moment that we can....no matter how tired we might be! My mom has been so sweet to keep Camryn during the day a lot of times so that I can take Colby on fun lunch dates, trips to the splash pad, pool days, etc. I have realized that it is near impossible for us to get out of the house before about 11am....and sometimes even that is a stretch. My mental schedule never really matches up with Camryn's schedule...but we make it work! :)
Sweet baby girl is going to sleep around 11 at night and then waking up to eat again around 2am and 5am...she is a HUNGRY girl and we can already tell that she is growing quickly.
She eats about 3 or 3 1/2 ounces every 3 hours during the day and usually every 4 hours at night.
We can tell that she is "filling out" much more quickly than her brother did when he was her age.
Mayra and Lilli came by to meet baby Camryn and bring us dinner- so sweet!
We've been attempting tummy time....she really seems to be working her muscles and lifting her head more and more...she's a strong little thing!
I'm hoping it will help relieve some of her tummy troubles, too
this pink bouncy seat is her favorite place to sleep (thank you Grace for sharing!!)
Melissa came to spend a night with us while she was in town for work....she couldn't get enough of baby Camryn!! (I had to pry her out of her arms when it was time to go to sleep)
THIS is Cami's happy place....daddy's chest is her very very favorite place to be.
He has still been getting up with both kiddos around 6am....I'm SO THANKFUL for those extra few hours of sleep!! Best daddy ever...
